Project Engineer-Architect

Engineering firm located in Central New Jersey, specializing in forensic engineering, is seeking an engineer/architect to join our expert team as a project engineer.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of construction problems including residential, multi-family and commercial properties
- Determine the cause, origin and extent of structural failures, construction defects, water infiltration and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
- Conduct investigations for various types of clients
- Analyze construction defect issues in building and infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
- Develop solutions for defects observed
- Prepare written and oral reports that document causes of failures, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
- Develop specifications
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
Requirements:
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Minimum of five years of civil/structural/construction/architectural experience with an emphasis on building design and analysis
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Desire to learn and grow as a professional
- Outstanding computer skills including MS 365 Office and computer graphic skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform inspections in basement, crawlspaces and on high and/or steep sloped roofs
- Travel within NJ to various work locations

Position Responsibilities:
- Inspection and evaluation of existing buildings and sites to document existing conditions and renovation projects.
Requirements:
- Hands-on construction experience – must be comfortable on ladders, roofs and in crawlspaces.
- Familiar with construction standards involving interior and exterior construction.
- Report writing and computer skills – must be comfortable with MS 365 Office Suite specifically Word & Excel.
- Have the ability to maintain construction documents while keeping them up to date/organized.
- Good communicator with clients and contractors.
